Former Lady Vols’ head coach and LVFLs share their memories of this historic rivalry

Knoxville, Tenn. – In anticipation of Thursday night’s match between the Tennessee Lady Vols and UConn, Full Disclosure looks back to the exciting moments for Tennessee.

The rivalry began in 1995 and former Lady Vols’ Head Coach Holly Warlick said the most memorable win came in a rematch during the 1996-97 season.

A few years later, Alexis Hornbuckle arrived on Rocky Top and was a part of the class that snapped a six-game losing streak to Geno Auriemma’s Connecticut Huskies.

That was was “intense” as the LVFL recalls So much so, the legendary head coach Pat Summitt kicked her out of practice.

However, Hornbuckle went on to earn the Player of the Game in their 2004-05 68-67 victory over UConn.
