Tennessee freshman forward Ralph Scott will miss the start of his college career after suffering a left knee injury.
Vols coach Rick Barnes announced Wednesday that Scott is expected to be sidelined for six to eight months. The 6-foot-8 freshman is scheduled to undergo surgery Thursday morning to repair the injury.
“Ralph was really looking forward to beginning his college career in a few weeks and we were excited to see him on the court competing for the Volunteers,” Barnes said in a statement. “However, it is important he gets healthy and this surgery will help him do just that. We will be there for Ralph to support him throughout his recovery process. Ralph is extremely talented and we remain enthusiastic about his bright future on Rocky Top.”
The timetable puts Scott’s freshman season in jeopardy as Tennessee prepares for the 2026-27 season which begins Oct. 20 against Duke.
Scott arrived in Knoxville as one of the more highly regarded prospects in Tennessee’s freshman class. A native of Warwick, Bermuda, he was a consensus four-star prospect and ranked among the top 80 players nationally after playing at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
